Teacher oh teacher!
Tuesday, April 01, 2008 4:53:00 pm

Okay.. so as usual, the lazy me woke up damn late. I slept at 3am last night cause of my compulsive coughing, which is irritatingly not getting any better. I'm wondering why.

Anyway, i received a call at about 1130am. OMG! APRIL'S FOOL!!! damn! i got tricked cause she used her house number, which was some unknown number!LOL! So anyway, my so lousy phone cut off the conversation. Then when my phone rang again, i assumed it was her. So i said "hello" in a suspicious yet mischevious tone, cause i thought she might pull a fast one on me again. Then the person on the other line said, "Hello joyce, i'm calling from so and so pri school. Are u able to do relief teaching today?" haha.. suddenly, i stunned for awhile.

Yes, so i did take up the job! 5hours being a teacher ain't that bad(:

Let me start of with the role models of a school, the TEACHERS! Well, some teachers are not that helpful, and yes, teachers still have that authoritative aura around them, cause even when i approched them to ask for directions, i can sense the distinct "teacher" tone, yeah... i know u get what i mean. (: Some are still as scary as they really are to us when we were in Pri school. But, ofcourse, there is always a rose amongst the thorns. Apparently, the male teachers and one female teacher was really nice, guiding me around this very alien school to me. The female teacher guided me when it came to the "What i should teach the students". While the male teachers were the ones who asked me why i decided to take up a relief teaching job, and started a general convo topic. Well, they were kind enough to make this poor girl (who was frantically marking a pile of maths worksheets in the staff room then) feel warm in this totally new enviroment.

OH! and yes, so what do teachers talk about behind closed doors within their own staff room boundaries? ALOT of STUFF!!! Especially female teachers!hahah The female teachers were busy gossiping about hell alot of students and there was this topic about some middle-aged man who those teachers claim was good looking and apparently, the guy was standing outside the stuff room. In my mind, i was thinking, "THERE WAS A CUTE GUY STANDING OUTSIDE THE STAFF ROOM??!! how come i didn't see him? Or is it cause it doesn't register in my mind that the guy is acutally cute, according to MY GENERATION" hahah. if u get what i mean..(: okay la... not all the teachers there are old. But they are definately at least 25 or 26 above, unless teaching primary kids would make you gain those 10 more wrinkles. Which, i wouldn't really be surprised.

So now with the PRIMARY SCHOOL KIDS! Mann! haha...they are one NOISY BUNCH OF KIDS!!! i now fully understand why getting the class to keep quiet during my school days was so hard on the teachers. *mischevious laughter* Okay, i made them shut up for like 2 seconds, and immediately after that, the 10000 decibel chatting/screaming/shouting starts again. I felt abit bad stuffing them with 4 pages of multiplication sums :( But i had no choice. Could really see some weaker students struggling really badly. So i could only help them so much. And yeah, there was really very little time. 1 period was only 30 mins, how is that enough?LOL.. (comparing with poly's 1hr = 1 period) yeah i know... its POLY. But know i understand why teachers are always rushing like mad in class, cause there is really, NO TIME!

Handling a class full of 7 and 9 year old kids can really be interesting
There was this situation:

This girl came up to me and complained...
Girl: Teacher, he scolded me Naughty girl!!! (pointing to this boy who was looking as though he never said such a thing)
Me: huh?..........................ehhhhh.... okay...
So i went to the boy and said, "don't say that, its not nice okay?"

Then just 2 mins later, she came up to me again
Girl: Teacher, he scolded me a big bully!!!
I again was stunned. I mean... what was i to say??!!
So yeah, i said to the boy again, and said, "don't say those to your friend, its not very good."

Then a few mins later, she came up to me and complained again,
Girl: Teacher, he said he wanted to KILL ME!!!!"
I was like.. HUH??!!! kill you???!!!
So this time, i said to both the girl and boy, thats the reason why i do not want you all to talk! cause you all will end up quarrelling! After that, i was thinking to myself, why did i bother to even reason to them? They prob wouldn't even get it, they are only 7 years old! lolx. but.. oh well!

It was not bad an experience(: After that, had dinner with Kenny and chit-chatting a hell lot!haha..

What a well spent day!(: Another fulfilling day of my HOLS! WOOTS!(:
